It is still recommended to remove jewelry when bathing, swimming, exercising or cleaning. Storing jewelry in an airtight container, away from other jewelry, will also prevent accelerated tarnishing.

These materials can nevertheless tarnish with continuous use. In theory, a warm bath in soapy water and a light scrubbing with a soft brush will help clean them. A light buffing with a polishing cloth will restore its lustre and shine.
